Graphic styles and typography for headings and caption

This is my inspiration for typography and logo designs.  The image on the right features bold sketch text that appeals to a young audience because of its feel. I aim to produce a book that has my design style and does not resemble of a average book about nature. Although I need to make sure this follows the best user face design practices, I think simplifying it would make  look good on both a website and ibook. I also like the how there are imagery and style of text within the circle.  The thing I want to achieve is to make the nature book stand out from the rest.

This is another peice of artwork developed by Jeremy Pruitt. The type family used, bold, makes me see this would one of best fonts as headings. To establish hierarchy, the headings have to be one on the top level. To create this the headings should larger and bolder than the body text. I particularly enjoy viewing this font because the design of the san serifs strike me. The cross bar featured on the A is positioned nearly at the bottom.

This logo design features an interesting large letter. The letter features many curves. Using the gestalt principle, continuation, is a great characteristic that would make the audience's eyes follow a path. This would a great style to apply on the drop caps. However, there are too many elements that cause it to be slightly illegible and too complex to be used as a drop cap. To solve this issue, I would have a curly path entering the san serif and another one exiting the font's body. If I went for this style, I would use this to compel the user's eyes to the main text.

This is another logo with great typography. The serif font used in 'kapitano, features an interesting cross bar, serif and bowl designs. The serif design is not as abrupt as a slab serif design and not as sharp and long as traditional fonts. Serif fonts are hard to get right on screen because the length of the serif reduces the kerning, making it slightly illegible.  A professional told me that a serif font should be larger than 20 pts. However, as this font feature short serifs, there is enough negative space to make the words easy to read.

With this design, there is a case where I enjoy the detail of the logo. The detail of the lines and the letter k draws my eyes. Although it is a captivating design, I think it is best for either as a logo on the front cover or bullet point.
